Theodore Mitchell - Principal

Ted Mitchell joined Haynes Benefits in October 2013. Before joining Haynes Benefits, his experience included a position among an employee benefits group of an AmJur top 150 national law firm. His specialty is counseling employers on the complicated web of laws that apply to executive compensation arrangements and employee benefits, and the different challenges and different laws that apply to private and public companies, and to the various types of non-profit and governmental entities.

Ted works extensively with clients to develop retirement plans and compensation arrangements including, creating, amending and interpreting 401(k) plans, defined benefit pension plans, profit sharing plans, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), health and welfare plans. As well as stock and other forms of equity and deferred compensation plans, Internal Revenue Code and ERISA, and the fiduciary duties of plan sponsors and plan trustees.

Before attending law school, he worked at one of the “Big Four” accounting firms and graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts and received his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois.

Ted Mitchell is a Midwest native who grew up in Derby, Kansas (just south of Wichita).
